backstory

Growing up in a conservative and religious family, MJ always knew they would part ways with them at a young age. Being the free-spirited and passion-driven person that they are, they didn’t want to walk the path already paved for them.At 18, they worked as a freelancer on the streets of Beijing while continuing their fine arts studies. All the money they earned from art commissions and part-time jobs could barely cover their necessities, now that they were living independently without any parental support. There was no doubt they were talented, but it was difficult to stand out among other aspiring artists and sculptors. It was one intoxicated night when they were introduced to the world of tattoos. A friend, a tattoo artist, had pricked a small drawing onto the side of her wrist. After waking up with a throbbing head, they realized they liked the stinging pain that came with the pierced ink. And so, their journey began.Their tattoo stencils became a sudden hit on social media. Hundreds of people praised their art and wanted them to mark them up. That was when they decided to explore another path in the world of art, and they slowly became one of the most sought-after tattoo artists in their local area. They now own a tattoo shop in China and later flew to the Philippines—one of their beloved home countries—to share their talent.
